What an exciting weekend this year’s US Open produced. There will obviously be lots of debate about the severity of Pinehurst 2, and, without a doubt, bad luck played a massive part in the scores of Aberg, Finau and McIlroy (the par 5 where he hit the green and the ball rolled into a simply horrendous position was hard to watch).
The US Open at Pinehurst 2
It’s the US Open week and this year’s event is being held at Pinehurst No. 2 in North Carolina. There is a historic line between Pinehurst and Mount Edgecombe Country Club Estate. In the 1990s our Club was part of the Club Corp stable who have Pinehurst as their flagship facility in the USA. The two small boy statues , cousins of the one at Pinehurst are at the entrance and 1st tee of The Woods course were donated to the Club. It is also the reason why, when the Lakes Course was built the course were named Course 1 and Course 2, just as they named the courses at Pinehurst.
